Lecture 'Women of Influence in Past Ages: Warriors, Rulers, Celebrities' by Prof. Beata Możejko, Faculty of History, UG

Abstract: Past eras were dominated by men, but even then there were women of influence, both in times of war and times of peace. They were often well educated, distinguished by their courage on the battlefield and their knowledge of sophisticated diplomatic games. They knew how to use the social media of the time, such as public speeches and letters, to achieve their goals. This does not mean, however, that they always used their abilities for good purposes and with good results.

We will look at a number of heroines, from different eras - from the Middle Ages to the 18th century - and try to reflect on their role in politics, society and culture.

Those who wish to ask a question can do so until Monday 15 March 2021 at: oblicza.nauki@ug.edu.pl
