Laboratory of Bionanotechnology
Project T E C H M A T S T R A T E G "BIONANOVA"
On September 1, 2019, one of the largests research projects in the history of the University of Gdańsk was launched at the Faculty of Chemistry.
TECHMATSTRATEG - "BIONANOVA"
The Department of Molecular Biotechnology of the Faculty of Chemistry (University of Gdańsk) cooperates with the Medical University of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk University of Technology as part of the BIONANOVA project. Prof. dr hab. Piotr Skowron is the head of the project.
The aim of the project is to develop and construct genetically programmed biological nanobots, which will be used, among others in medicine, pharmacy, biotechnological industrial processes, environmental protection and remediation, and scientific research.
The total amount of funding from the National Center for Research and Development is 25.82 million PLN (2nd place among participants in Poland) for the implementation of the project entitled "Next-generation delivery systems for bioactive molecules in chemically synthesized and genetically engineered nanobiomaterials" (acronym: BIONANOVA).
The head of the project is prof. dr hab. Piotr Skowron, head of the Molecular Biotechnology Department of the Faculty of Chemistry.
The project is implemented jointly with the Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk University of Technology and the biotechnology company Innovabion Sp. z o. o.
