2026 A new research and development project in the field of translational medicine – TRANSMED I
We are pleased to announce the start of a new research project titled 'Enzymatic composition for combating infections and bacterial biofilm present in the catheter and patient's bladder,' funded under the TRANSMED I program (ABM/2024/8) and carried out at the University of Gdańsk.
The project is an interdisciplinary venture conducted in collaboration with scientists from the Faculty of Biology and the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Gdańsk, integrating expertise in biology, biotechnology, and chemical sciences.
The project manager is Prof. Alicja Węgrzyn. The Department of Molecular Biotechnology is actively involved in carrying out the project. Prof. Piotr Skowron, habilitated doctor, serves as the head of the research tasks related to bactericidal enzyme engineering, including cloning, design, modification, and the development of innovative solutions based on molecular biotechnology.
The project opens up new possibilities for conducting advanced translational research and developing innovative technologies with potential practical applications. We hope that the results of the work carried out will contribute to the development of modern therapeutic and biotechnological strategies.
Congratulations to the whole team and wishing success with the project!
