Control bodies of the impact of industry on the environment. Types and impact of industrial pollution on the environment. REACH system - i.e. rules for manufacturing, marketing and use of chemicals. Material safety data sheets for chemical substances. Environmental aspects of selected technological processes and chemical companies. Voluntary instruments for environmental protection.

 

Technical drawing

Program content: 

The following issues will be discussed in the course:

  • Introduction to technical drawing.
  • Standardized elements of technical drawing.
  • Rectangular projection represented by views.
  • Axonometric drawings.
  • Sections, half-sections, layouts.
  • Principles of dimensioning.
  • Tolerances and fits.
  • Indications of surface roughness.

Fundamentals of chemical apparatus

Forms and semester of classes: lecture 15 hours, laboratory exercises 15 hours, auditing exercises 15 hours; semester 3

Program contents: The problems of the lecture include the presentation of basic knowledge of the construction, principle of operation and operation of typical machines and apparatuses used in chemical and related industries, taking into account the equipment used in environmental protection technologies. The lecture also includes a discussion of the relationship between the theory of operation of equipment and their design, along with the presentation of the relationships determining the values of their operating parameters.Problems of laboratory exercises: includes the presentation of the methodology of calculation and selection of selected machines and apparatuses, and the determination of the operating characteristics of selected pumps used in the chemical industry.

Chemical and technological concept of the process. Unit operations and processes. Idea diagram. Technological scheme of the process. Technological principles. Mass and energy balance of the technological process. Solids grinding processes. Screening and sorting. Forming and extradition. Mechanical separation of heterogeneous systems. Crushing of liquids. Mixing and agglomeration. Heat transfer. Heating and cooling. Evaporation. Freezing of foods. Drying. Extraction. Distillation and rectification. Basic equipment in the chemical and food industry. Scaling up the process.

Nanomaterials - from laboratory to application.

Design of chemical business
Forms and semester of classes: Lecture 15 hours, auditory exercises 30 hours, 5th semester

Program contents: 

Issues of the lecture: 1. the process of business planning (economic and technological aspects) 2. the structure of the process project 3. the structure of the business plan 4. the essence of strategic and marketing analysis of the venture 5. financial analysis of the projected venture

Issues of exercises: 1. development of a preliminary process design for a selected production enterprise operating in the field of production of cosmetics, drugs, pesticides, paints, varnishes, biotechnology, waste processing, etc: Development of the chemical concept of the selected technological process Development of the technological concept of the selected process (conceptual scheme of the process, mass balance, energy balance, technological scheme) 2. Development of the preliminary business plan for the selected enterprise Selection and justification of the business model concept for the startup and its organization Development of market and financial analyses for the startup.

 

 

Basics of AutoCAD
Forms and semester of classes: laboratory exercises 45 hours, 6th semester

Program content: Familiarization with the working environment in AutoCAD, discussion of the various elements of the interface, customization of the working screen to meet the needs of the design task, coordinate systems, basic commands and function keys. Creating a drawing: basic tools for drawing two-dimensional objects, working with templates, defining area, units (e.g. meters, millimeters), drawing scale and other drawing properties. Working with layers: creating new and modifying existing drawing layers. Drawing elements with complex shapes Editing a drawing: copying, moving, deleting, rotating, trimming objects, chamfering and rounding corners, creating an array of objects, etc.... Drawing description: a reminder of the basic principles of dimensioning and technical drawing description, and application of these principles when working with AutoCAD. Creating blocks, operations on blocks. Preparing a drawing for printing: working in model and sheet space, creating a drawing table viewport, selecting a printing device, selecting printing parameters. Cooperation of many people on one project: unification of drawing rules, copying, import and export of single objects and whole drawings. 3D modeling. Creation of complex 3D objects. Creation of technical drawings on the basis of 3D models. Making technical design and 3D model of selected equipment related to chemical industry.

Raw materials for the plastics processing industry. Raw materials for the paint and varnish industry. Raw materials for the pharmaceutical industry. Raw materials for the plant protection products industry. Raw materials for the construction industry. Raw materials for the manufacture of ceramic products. Wood and wood-like materials. The use of waste as raw materials. Resources of the seas and oceans.

 

Environmental protection in the chemical industry

Program contents:

Issues of the lecture: The current state of air, water and soil pollution in the country in terms of industrial impact. Distribution of pollutants in the atmosphere, water and soil. Effects of selected industrial pollutants on living organisms. Classification, characteristics and sources of industrial waste generated in the technological process. Quality parameters of waste gases. Selected methods of reducing the content of pollutants in waste gases; dust removal, removal of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons. Removal of odors. Soil and its protection. Selected methods of utilization and disposal of industrial waste. Quality parameters of industrial wastewater. Characteristics of wastewater generated in selected industries. Methods of purification and treatment of wastewater: recovery of raw materials, neutralization, precipitation, sedimentation, flotation, coagulation, oxidation and reduction, biological treatment of wastewater. Selection of appropriate treatment methods depending on the quality of wastewater. Discussion of selected technologies for the treatment of wastewater from various industries (refining, textile, food, etc.).

Issues of laboratory exercises: Performing exercises thematically related to the treatment of soils, wastewater, leachate and air.
