Synthesis of amino-derivatives of sugars and alditoli and their use in the Hantzsch reaction

The Hantzsch reaction allows the acyclic components to construct a substituted 1,4-dihydropyridine ring. 1,4-Dihydropyridine is the basic structural element of many medically important substances. Such compounds, among others, reduce blood pressure, show anti-tuberculosis, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant and anti-cancer effects.
