Open call for Post-doc positions under the OPUS29 project

Open call for Post-doc positions under the OPUS29 project (New thin films of surface-deposited metal-organic frameworks (SURMOFs) for molecule capture and photoconversion), UMO-2025/57/B/ST11/00206, funded by the National Science Centre.

Keywords: materials science; nanotechnology; nanostructures; metal-organic frameworks, heterogeneous photocatalysis, sorption

Deadline for application: March 20 2026, 3:00 PM

Contract duration: 12 months (with the possibility of extension to 48 months)

Start date: April 1, 2026

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in chemistry, biochemistry, physics, environmental protection or chemical technology;
  • Knowledge and experience in chemical synthesis (organic and inorganic) and analytical methods (GC, HPLC, UV-Vis spectroscopy);
  • Experience in materials synthesis or organic synthesis and characterization proved by at least 3 articles published in JCR journals;
  • Experience in heterogenous photocatalysis.
  • Experience in grant implementation or performance;
  • Fluency in English (writing and speaking).

The candidate must meet the additional formal criteria specified in the conditions of the NCN OPUS competition: the doctoral degree must have been obtained within 12 years prior to January 1 of the year of employment in the project. This period may be extended under special circumstances, in accordance with the regulations mentioned above. The candidate must have obtained their doctoral degree at an institution other than the one where employment on this position is planned, or must have completed at least a 10-month-long, continuous and documented postdoctoral fellowship at an institution other than the one implementing the project, and in a country different from the one where the doctoral degree was obtained.

Description of tasks:

Chemical synthesis of surface supported metal organic frameworks (SURMOFs) - at least 5 different SURMOFs - using wide spectrum of methods (solvothermal deposition, MOFs synthesis followed by spray-coating, layer-by-layer deposition etc.). Synthesis of sandwich-like SURMOFs (at least one based on the previous syntheses). Advanced characterization of obtained MOFs and SURMOFs and analysis of the results (SEM, TGA, XRD, CHNS analysis; UV-Vis, FTIR, Raman, and PL spectroscopies). Mechanism investigation for the selected samples. Action spectra analysis for selected samples. 13C-labeled photochemical experiments.

Terms of employment:

Full-time employment contract, initially for 12 months with a possibility of extension depending on the results for the remaining 36 months; gross/gross salary of approx. PLN 11,500/month; a friendly, dynamic, and supportive environment of co-workers.
