On Wednesday, May 24, chemical workshops were held, attended by two groups of students from the Public School Complex - Kokoszkowy Junior High School near Starogard Gdański. High school students were in the chemistry lab for the first time. They performed experiments titled. “Basics of laboratory work”. The workshops were led by Magdalena Pazda and Oktawian Stachurski.

On Monday, May 15 and Tuesday, May 23, we hosted students from Junior High School No. 7: Merited People of the Sea in Gdańsk. Students of the first year of MSU, who in the summer semester as part of the subject: didactics of chemistry – practice, held classes in this middle school, organized a meeting for first-grade students at the Faculty of Chemistry. It consisted of two parts: exercise and laboratory. As part of these classes, junior high school students repeated their knowledge and skills acquired so far in chemistry classes. The classes were prepared under the supervision of Dr. Bożena Karawajczyk from the Department of Didactics and Popularization of Science.

On Wednesday, May 10, two groups of 2nd grade students from the Secondary High School: Jan III Sobieski in Wejherowo took part in the chemical workshop. (it is worth mentioning that every year several graduates of this school start their studies here). Both groups of high school students performed chemical experiments on the topic of “Chromium and Manganese Compounds”. The workshop was led by Magdalena Pazda and Dr. Henryk Myszka. Students at the laboratory table were helped by students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists.

On Wednesday, May 10, two groups of students from the Secondary School of Chemistry: Feliks Nowowiejski in Braniewo, participated in the workshop, a school from which several graduates choose courses of study offered by our Faculty of Chemistry every year. Both groups carried out chemical experiments on the topic of “Chromium and Manganese Compounds”.  The workshop was conducted by Dr. Natalia Ptaszyńska, and Magdalena Pazda.

On the last Wednesday of April (26.04) two groups of students took part in the chemical workshop. The first were students from Junior High School No. 12 in Gdynia and the second were high school students from Maria Skłodowska-Curie High School in Tczew. Both groups worked on the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”. The classes were led by Anna Barabaś and Kinga Westphal.

On two subsequent Wednesday mornings (12 and 19 April), four groups of students from two matura classes with a biological and chemical profile, from the Second Secondary High School: Dr. Władysław Pniewski in Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz. All groups implemented the topic “Chromium and Manganese Compounds”, and the classes were led by: Dr. Małgorzata Czaja, Ewa Sulecka, Edyta Czajkowska and Oktawian Stachurski. Students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped them with their experiments.

On Wednesday, April 5th, two groups of students from the 19th General High School: Marian Mokwa in Gdańsk took part in the chemical workshop. It is worth mentioning that every year a large group of graduates of this school come to us. Both groups implemented the topic “Chromium and Manganese Compounds”, and classes were led by Magdalena Pazda, Ewa Sulecka and Edyta Czajkowska. The students were assisted by students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists.

On Thursday, April 6, the workshop was attended by two groups of students from the Polish Post Defenders Gymnasium No. 8. The topic of the meeting was basic laboratory activities. The classes were led by Dr. Bożena Karawajczyk from the Department of Didactics and Popularization of Science and Dr. Barbara Dmochowska from the Department of Organic Chemistry.

On Wednesday, March 29, we hosted two groups of students from the Gymnasium: Władysław Miegoń in Gdynia. One group carried out chemical experiments on the topic “Basics of laboratory work” and the other on the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”. The workshop was conducted by: Agnieszka Fiszka-Borzyszkowska and Oktawian Stachurski. Students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped them perform chemical experiments.

On Wednesday, March 22, we hosted two groups of young people interested in chemistry. The chemistry workshops were attended by students from Secondary School No. Queen Jadwiga in Malbork and from the XXIV High School: Stefan Banach in Gdańsk-Osowa. Both groups carried out chemical experiments on the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”. The workshops were conducted by Agnieszka Fiszka-Borzyszkowska and Małgorzata Mędyk with Łukasz Grabarczyk. Students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped them perform chemical experiments.

The topic of the meeting was oxidation and reduction reactions. The first group of students was supervised by Dr. Małgorzata Czaja, and the second by Dr. Dariusz Wyrzykowski. High school students were helped by students of the first year of Master’s studies, participants of the Teacher Education Module.

Both teams conducted chemical experiments on the topic: “Chemical elements and their reactions”. The workshops were led by Agnieszka Kozłowska and Oktawian Stachurski. Students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists served their help at the laboratory table.

On Thursday, 12 January, a group of young people from the Junior High School: John Paul II in Bolszewo. took part in the workshop organised by Dr. Małgorzata Czaja. The topic of the meeting was the methods of separation of mixtures and the preparation and study of the properties of acids, bases and salts. Students were helped by students of the 2nd year of Master’s studies, participants of the Teacher Education Module.

On Wednesday, January 11, we hosted two groups of students from grades I-III from the Second Secondary High School: Kociewska Land in Starogard Gdański. One group of young people carried out chemical experiments on the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”, and the other, which consisted of future high school graduates, carried out the topic “Chromium and manganese compounds”. The workshops were led by Agnieszka Fiszka-Borzyszkowska and Oktawian Stachurski.

On Tuesday, December 20, a popular-scientific lecture was held, attended by students from the Second High School in Tczew and the XXIV High School in Gdańsk. At this meeting Prof. Marek Kwiatkowski introduced high school students to the subject of water (among others, he presented the unique properties of water, which can be observed in everyday life, and the resulting structure of its molecules and their interactions, he discussed the issue of natural waters).

The second workshop, which took place on 15 December 2016 and was organised by Dr. Małgorzata Czaja from the Department of Didactics and Popularisation of Science, was attended by a group of young people from the XXIV High School in Gdańsk. The students performed experiments on the chemistry of carbon compounds. They were looked after by students of the second year of Master’s studies, participants of the Teacher Education Module.

The subject of the course was acid and alkaline character in the periodic table. On the last Wednesday of November (30.11.201) we hosted two groups of students: the first were high school students from I LO im. Maria Skłodowska-Curie in Tczew, and the other students from Middle International School of Gdańsk. Due to the fact that among the young people there were junior high school students from Norway and France, the workshops were conducted in English. Both groups of students worked on the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”. The workshops were led by Anna Barabaś and Teresa Łepek. At the laboratory table the students were helped by students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists.

On Wednesday, November 23, chemical workshops were attended by two groups of junior high school students from Junior High School No. 1: Nicolaus Copernicus in Wejherowo, and the other from Gymnazjum Sportowy No. 24 in Gdańsk. Agnieszka Kozłowska worked with the first group of young people, while Agnieszka Fiszka-Borzyszkowska worked with the second group. Secondary school students from both schools carried out experiments on the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”. Students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped them in their laboratory work.

On October 26th we started another year of chemical workshops at our Faculty. That day we hosted two groups of young people. The first group consisted of students from Gymnasium No. 25 in Gdańsk, supervised by Agnieszka Kozłowska. The second group consisted of  students from the I High School: Maria Skłodowska-Curie in Tczew. Anna Barabaś conducted the classes for them. Both groups of students performed experiments on the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”, and were supported by students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists.
